1. Improper Installation–A window air conditioner must be installed lower at the rear than the front. This allows the water to drain to the back. This is always the first thing to check.

2. Icing–If there are problems with the cooling system, water being dehumidified can turn to ice.

3. Air Leakage–If warm air from outside encounters cooler, dryer air, condensation occurs.

4. Blocked Drain Hole–If the drain hole at the rear of air conditioner base becomes blocked, water can back up.

5. Internal Drain Blockage–If small passageways allowing water to drain from front of air conditioner to the rear become blocked, water will pool at front and overflow.

6. Cold Outside Temperature–If outside temperatures drop below 60 deg. the cooling coil may ice over.
